The domain registration .US, like some others, is available on our platform for users who require it, however, the process has some restrictions due to the need to protect the integrity and security of the United States. These restrictions ensure that .US domains are used by entities that have a legitimate connection to the country, either through citizenship, residency, or business operation within the US territory.

Complying with these regulations ensures that the .US domain maintains its original purpose of serving the American community and prevents misuse or malicious use of the domain, which could compromise user trust and the functionality of services associated with this domain.

Applicants interested in registering a domain in the .us TLD must meet at least one of the three categories and certify that they have a "genuine presence in the United States."

By accepting the registration policies, applicants confirm that they meet at least one of the following requirements.

Category 1
Be a natural-born citizen of the United States, a permanent resident of the United States of America or any of its possessions or territories, or whose primary place of domicile is in the United States of America or any of its possessions.

Category 2
Be a United States entity or organization that is incorporated within one of the 50 states of the USA, the District of Columbia, or any of the possessions or territories of the United States, or otherwise formed under the laws of a state of the United States of America, the District of Columbia, or any of its possessions (including a federal, state, or local government of the United States, or a political subdivision thereof, and unincorporated organizations based in the United States).

Category 3
Be an entity or organization (including a federal, state, or local government of the United States, or a political subdivision thereof) that has a genuine presence in the United States of America or any of its possessions or territories.

If it is a foreign entity, the applicant must declare the country of citizenship and meet at least one of the following conditions:

• Regularly sell goods in the United States.
• Regularly provide services in the United States.
• Regularly engage in commercial activities, trade, or other business relationships (commercial or non-commercial, including non-profit) in the United States.
• Maintain an office or other property within the United States.

For all active domains with the .US termination, weekly, random, and automatic validations are performed to ensure that the owners of .US domains still meet the requirements.

A small number of domains are selected, and a confirmation email is sent to the selected registrants. Each registrant has 30 days to respond to the confirmation email. If the registrant does not respond, a second contact will be attempted. If there is no response to the second contact, the domain name will be deleted without being eligible for a refund.
